Filth Fack - board-mount version

Now available with silicon transistors in place of the usual germanium for a different flavour of fuzz and more temperature stability. The 2022 version of the PCB adds extra transistor pads to accommodate ECB pinout germaniums - handy!

Take a Fuzz Face, mess around on the bench, add some pots and a sprinkling of crazy dust and you have this beast.

Classic, noisy five-knobbed fuzz box with stability, compression, gate, drive and volume controls. The fuzz comes from a pair of specially selected germanium cans which can produce tame, soothing fuzz tones or veer off into wild oscillations and gated madness with the twist of a knob or two.

Pot spacing is 21mm, so please take that into account when choosing knobs.

If you want to go all-out you can wire up a toggle switch to turn it into a Fat Filthy Fack. It's only three offboard wires. The toggle switch has to mount on the top edge of the box (along from the DC socket) if you're opting for a predrilled enclosure.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Easy To Build, Hard To Tame 5 product stars
"First things first: The kit arrived so quickly I didn't have time to think 'what am I getting myself into', was perfectly packaged and had everything ready to go. After putting it all together and very gingerly soldering in the transistors (I went for germanium), I tested it and almost couldn't bring myself to put it in enclosure because I didn't want to unplug! Serious amount of sounds in this thing, from full on sustaining doom blasts to glitchy rippy Geiger counting, and not a single one of them neighbour-friendly. Get it." Aleks - 07 July 2018
All velcroed up 5 product stars
"Having as yet to finish a Rat clone i picked up last year, i thought it best to give up and start something new. I figured it wouldn't be too easy to get a Nine Inch Nails ticket for Meltdown festival, which basically gave me a spare 60. Listening to NIN again for the first time in a while had reminded me that I wanted to investigate how to get that gritty fuzz sound they use a fair bit. I somehow hadn't heard of gated fuzz, and certainly didn't want to spend 200 for a Factory version of this. Figured what the heck, let's give it a go. Certainly goad i did. After about four hours it was all working, if you can call the absurd noise this peral makes, working! It has all the fuzz, so much versatility and a bundle of shriek. I did find that when the stability knob is beyond 10 o'clock, there's some noise bleed on bypass. This might be because of my power pack not being isolated? Either way, i love this oedal and have already set it at the start of my pedalboard. I've also ordered a daughterbiard for a switch, in the hope it might help me finish my first project." Amazingly versatile 5 product stars
"This is a great kit. As always, delivery was super-quick and the quality is fantastic. A very simple build, but it gives excellent results. It's capable of mayhem as per its reputation, but less chaotic fuzz tones are easy to dial in, too. Very reactive to your guitar's volume control, and the fat switch is well worth it for greatly expanding the range of sounds available, especially for taming any harshness that often creeps in. Thanks for an amazing pedal!" Tom - 28 March 2017
What a monster! 5 product stars
"This is not only my first pedal build but the first electronics project I've done, and I am really blown away with the results! a neat kit with a fairly simple layout and plentry of help to be found in the downloads section, and the sound is massive! This definitely won't be my last purchase from fuzz dog!" Benjamin Storm - 15 September 2016
Fun! Fun! Fun! 5 product stars
"I really enjoyed making this pedal. Not too many components and clever design make it a simple build. It sounds freaking rad. The chaos of this pedal is amazing. A lot of fun to explore the tonal options!! Even with postage to Australia it's a great value build and I look forward to exploring the sonic possibilities." Greg - 03 July 2015
Great fun 5 product stars
"This was my first attempt at building a pedal, but the instructions and kit make it really easy and I got a great result, the first time I tested it out I couldn't believe how mental this pedal sounds! As soon as I was finished I was back on the site wondering what buy next." claire - 10 January 2015
Filthy Facker 5 product stars
"This is my third build from Pedal Parts, but my first with on board pots. This makes a huge difference to build and boxing. Really straight forward. Put my off board wires in back to front so had to redo them which took some time (used solid core wire). Used the 3PDT PCB which was also a time saver (tip run a wire off the RLED off the FF PCB and connect to the 9v on the 3PDT PCB and your LED is good to go). Got it for some Muse sounds. Got that and Fuzz, crackle, oscillations and so much more. A mad bugger and reaches unity gain with volume at about 9 O'Clock. Haven't had a "real" F zz F ctory, but this sounds the business compared to the YouTube vids I've seen of the real thing!" Andy Gaffey - 04 July 2014
Superb! 5 product stars
"My third build from Herr Poodle: usual rapid post, quality parts, clear instructions and beautifully designed PCB. Another pleasurable evening bent over soldering iron ensued, and lo, an excellent pedal for at least a third the price of an original. Pots mounting directly on board is superb idea, and it sounds excellent - exactly as you'd expect - fuzzface with added insanity - gloriously gritchy/zelcro fuzz/squealing oscillation etc, responds beautifully and unpredictably to guitar volume/tone knob tweaking....oh my ears...." Stuart - 10 March 2014
Very simple - Fantastic result 5 product stars
"This it the first pedal kit I have ever bought. The kit came with absolutely everything I needed for the build. I have very little experience with soldering and electronics, but the easy to follow guide and the nice made board made it very easy to do. The circuit was working at my first go. I will recommend buying one." Joachim Olesen - 08 March 2014
Sound of mass destruction. 5 product stars
"You just can't go wrong with it. Sounds exactly as the original. Sound of mass destruction!" Ruslan - 03 June 2013
