Tweed Tone

Based on a delightful gold boutique box, this little fella is a very simple chunk of Fender-like tone. Add a little 50's Fender Twin or Tweed Deluxe oomph into your chain. We've taken the tried and tested topology of the Electra-based original and added the rather lovely AMZ SWTC2 tone section to it to make it even more useful.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components (not footswitches), pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Great! 5 product stars
"Can't fault it. Exactly what I was looking for, gives you all the lovely thickness and slight fuzz you'd expect from an overdriving tweed amp, and the different clipping options are great. As with any fuzzdog kit, went together like a dream. Follow the instructions, work methodically and you'll be fine. (Note the mistake on my part - ribbon connector would have been better going onto the other side of the circuit board as it's a touch tight this way - still works fine though!)

My Favorite FzDg Pedal. 5 product stars
"I have built five FuzzDog pedals and this one is my favorite. Running it at 12Vdc with plenty of headroom, and three levels of clipping distortion! It stacks very well with the ParaDrive pedal and the Clock of Tone. ParaDrive - Clock of Tone - Lil' Louise yields a thick, chewy distortion. Ummmm, getting hungry! Super rapid Delivery to the States. Classic enabilism and I love it!" James Gale - 28 May 2022
Simple and solid. 4 product stars
"This was my first pedal build from Fuzzdog (I've done 8 at the time fo writing). It was simple, spacious and it really is a great pedal. Having built a few more complex pedals since, I do wish that this one had a tone control (no fault of Fuzzdog), and I was a little disappointed that the gain pot did not behave through it's entire range, but really only kicking in around 3 o'clock. Aside form that, it's a solid, simple pedal that I still plug in, even with more complex options on the board," Ryo - 27 August 2021
Awesome Tweed sound in a very simple-to-build pedal 5 product stars
"This is my third build from Fuzzdog, and it is a great one. Many overdrive pedals can end up sounding similar to each other, but this one is quite different to the rest in my pedalboard (RAT, TS, Plexi, ODR). It makes my Revv D20 sound like a great Tweed amp and three way switch gives different flavors to the sound. I managed to complete this build (without the paint work) in approximately one hour. Recommended for those classic tones!" Tunkejazz - 16 May 2021
Excellent little pedal 5 product stars
"I've bought this to replace an older, definitely not as nice kit from a competitor - the old pedal was the two-3PDT version (in a cramped 125B enclosure, no less) which I found clunky and pointless since the gain knob can just always be in-circuit. This pedal'll likely be many years of fun with a much better internal layout, enclosure quality and size. Does the tweed thing pretty well, considering the circuit is not trying to emulate an actual amp at all - it's just a simple Electra circuit with a bit of diode horsing around. I was mainly interested in this pedal because I'm a huge Neil Young fan, but also bought the Mad Mule from FuzzDog in a previous order and, to my ears, that does Neil Young much, much better. I'd say this pedal does the Stones very well, especially on the lower-gain diode settings. It's such a simple and elegant circuit that you can't go wrong with it. Everyone should own one."
