Toxic Minx - Distortion+/OD250

Clone of the MXR Distortion+, the 70's workhorse of the rich and famous (well, Randy Rhodes apparently). A few component changes and you have an OD250. Nice.

Great little distortion in stock format, but why not play around with the tone? Clipping diodes make all the difference here, and this new version of the PCB includes extra spots for an optional second set and a switch to go between them.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Good first build
"This is a good kit, and a useful pedal. Both controls at 12 is a great place to start, and you can actually get pretty lairy into a valve amp with just the volume control. Very useable, and plays well with other distortions and drives. The instructions are pretty good too- not perfect, but mine worked first time, so they must be pretty good. I'm not sure there's going to be a lot of use with the LED mod though- it's very quiet. On the other hand it's cheap as hell so who cares. I strongly recommend this kit. Excellent and versatile
"Great overdrive with both controls at noon. More gain (and treble) as you crank things up. Leave the gain low, crank the volume, and this pedal works as a lead boost in your effects loop. Really simple, effective two knobbed box of wonder." Ian - 20 December 2018

Old school dirt box
"Very easy kit to build and has that gritty fuzz box feel to it that takes you back to your first pedals. It goes from a clean mild OD pretty much straight to an all out fuzz-dirt. Swapping diodes makes the world of difference, even lifting them gives a super hairy boost. Modding it for more bass improves it a bit. I keep saying fuzz, which it isnt, but don't expect articulate distortion out of this. It nails 70's rock and is ok as a standalone dirt but much better just boosting an already dirty amp."
