Supa-J Fuzz

By popular demand we've added a 1590BB option with top jacks and DC. You'll have to wire the pots offboard for this version, but no biggy eh?

May we proudly present our very first collaborative release, and what a doozy it is.

If you're not familiar with Markus' work as Reeves Electro, do yourself a favour and check it out;. These super-limited run pedals are meticulously crafted works of art (look, he's blushing!), and as beautiful visually as they are sonically.

But... they're super-limited.

That's where we come in.

Being a long time friend of the dawg, Markus approached us with the idea of turning this particular circuit into a kit to make it available to all, not just those lucky enough to hit 'buy' in time on release day. Of course, we jumped at the chance.

So what is it?

Tracing out his own 1970 Jen Fuzz, itself a revoiced version of a Marshall Supa Fuzz, Markus sought to recreate the fuzzy magic therein. And he did. What's more, he figured out a neat way to choose between the Jen and the original Marshall circuit with the flip of a switch with no change in volume. Well done mate.

Add to that an extra toggle to change the voicing, adding lower mids for extra saturation or taking them out for a thinner, less gainy experience. No more swapping out your guitar to match the fuzz.

Here's Markus demonstrating the first one off the bench. If that doesn't tempt you, whaddamagonnado?

NOTE: Due to the height of the 3PDT toggle switch it's a slightly fiddly build but nothing outrageous. Check the doc before buying if that makes you nervous. The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs. Keep them 13mm or smaller due to the pot/switch positioning.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included. If top DC socket is selected the controls will be positioned 8mm further down the face of the enclosure.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Tone machine! 5 product stars
"The FuzzDog & Reeves Electro Supa-J is a really enjoyable kit to put together. The pedal you will have at the end will also sound amazing, a beautiful Fuzz with a vocal like sustain (think Mick Ronson Solo era Angel No 9, Slaughter on 10th Avenue). I was so impressed with the sound of this, you can tell a lot of work went into designing this for a PCB build and achieving tonal consistency. It's a serious pedal. The Fuzz Dog guides are spot on, read them a couple of times (both the general build guide and the one for your kit) and you won't go wrong. One tip, buy yourself some blu tac, use it to hold components in place whilst you solder the reverse side - also very helpful when you come to the stage where you need to level your pots and switches. Keep it Fuzzy!!!!!

Fabulous 5 product stars
"I ve been building and buying a few fuzzes recently and this has been my favourite by far. It s surprisingly versatile. Highly recommended (don t copy my wiring of the switch board. It s upside down because I was reusing a pedal case and it worked better this way)

Keeping it Fuzzy 5 product stars
"As an owner of 3 Reeves Electro pedals already (RedDotSound, BlackHatSound & Leo), I can tell you honestly this is the real deal. While it can never match the beautiful fuzzy guts of an original, it can most definitely get close to it in the sound department. Straight forward build as things go (though I managed to make a mess of my switch but mounting my ribbon cable on the wrong side!). Well worth your time if you cannot nab one direct from Reeves.
