Stinky Cheese Fuzz

Far from cheesy, this box is bursting with full-on fuzzy madness. Super high gain tones to pound your sensibilities. V2 now has a separate daughterboard for the rotary switch to make it much easier to line it up with the pots.

Incredibly versatile thanks to the famous four-way tone section rotary switch, giving:

  • Tone Bypass
  • Mid Scoop
  • Mid Boost
  • Gated (very, very silly but mucho fun)

Includes a modified output stage for extra volume, as the original was a little lacking. Many thanks to Plesur for the details of that mod in the Feta Complis build doc.

And all this in a vertical 1590B you say? Damn straight. AND it's great on bass.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs. The rotary switch may need to be cut to length.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Mr. Woohoo Fuzz 5 product stars
"Surely all need for fuzz mayhem dissipates with maturity- NOPE! Being a fuzz fiend I pushed up the fuzz and floated away on my own personal fuzz cloud and it's dense enough to carry the weight - powerful bottom end & fighty mids. Calming down, I pulled back the fuzz and played around with the tone & vol controls and what fun! I had rich, creamy sounds & articulate chord definition & some very old fuzz sounds too before descending into ultra heavy mayhem. Even at its lowest fuzz setting there's a lot of fuzz, but if you roll back the tone & vol you'll find some other very usable sounds & they change dramatically. So many different sounds from one little box as the rotary lets you find a sound for your amp. It's a fun build and the instructions are good & all parts are of good quality. It's not a pedal anxious to behave itself for long (with me behind it anyway), but if full-bodied fuzz with character(s) is your thing it's great. Using humbuckers the tone is fat but it doesn't lose itself over to the bass end of my guitar as a germanium fuzz can. It'll stay on my pedal board (tea tray) as this pedal has big personality. The Stinky Cheese won't disappoint a fuzz-brain seeking a pedal with many fuzz tones. It's not stinky anyway & the box ain't big! I've been banished to headphones for the foreseeable future due to the 'racket' - oops! Oh...it's LOUD & even makes me sound ok!" Guy - 17 May 2017
