Omega Treble Boost

Run Off Groove's stab at getting all the goodness of a Range Master without having to deal with the noise and temperament of germanium cans, and they've done a very nice job indeed.

Take a peek at the link for more info. ROG describe it better than we can.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Very flexible - works well with 5e3 and 5f2-a 5 product stars
"Very flexible. Doesn't sound quite like my modded Rangemaster clone, but close - and a lot more flexible thanks to the 'range' control. I recommend replacing the 'audio' volume pot with a linear one - it feel that it just has better ergonomics for this particular circuit." Daniel A. - 06 August 2023
Great First Build 4 product stars
"Its a very harsh booster but it does the job. It was my first soldering job so maybe that's why it doesn't sound that well, could also be the fact that I am using an amp sim. I don't notice that much change in BIAS on my end, but other than this the pedal is great. Kit was super easy and only took me 30 minutes. Next is going to be a hot snake treble booster." Austin Uhl - 19 December 2020
The Perfect Treble Boost 5 product stars
"I just finished mine and I'm absolutely blown away. All the greatness of a traditional Rangemaster with extra versatility and no hiss. I ended up with mine biased around 4.5v as I found it gave the best range of usable tones. I ran it in front of my Laney for an hour today and it's never leaving that spot." Vance - 01 August 2020
Rorytastic Treble Magic! 5 product stars
"Previous review is spot-on - if you re a fan of Rory Gallagher then you need this on your board. Simple build but remember you ll need a multimeter to set the bias which is also very easy to do. After a spot of A-B testing I went with the rangemaster-like sounds that 7V gives. Great pedal!" Steve A - 26 October 2019
OMeGa It's Brilliant 5 product stars
"Short review: Buy it, build it, boost it. OMG it's brilliant. Long review: This is my 4th build and probably my favourite so far. Having rediscovered the simple, masterly tone of Rory Gallagher I currently play a Strat and just use my amp for 'crunch' and boost it with the Omega - it's on 50% of the time. With the amp drive on break-up and both pedal controls set half way it gives great blues lead and hard rhythm sounds and dialling back the guitar volume it cleans up well. I got RG's sound with ease. To me, the range control isn't just a simple tone control, it selects the frequencies to boost. Depending on your amp's tone settings, full left will tear out your eardrums with an icepick and hard right is a fuller/fatter sound. The Master control is volume but it obviously drives the amp harder; from mild drive to strap yourself in overdrive. There's plenty of tweaking to be had and the results are more than you'd probably expect from such a simple circuit. I have a Peavey Special 130 amp (its solid state but someone forgot to tell the amp that) and through the lead channel the Omega sounds great. No,it doesn't just work with valve amps, it also works well with a high quality solid state amp too. The Omega carries the legacy of the Range Master forward but without the unwanted noise of the original. If you want a 60's British Blues sound or just want a quality, clear sounding drive and don't want to spend silly money on a beaten up original or an overpriced reissue, you really should try one of these. Fuzz Dog's delivers the goods again." Steve M - 16 September 2018
