N-er-Getic Fuzz

Yeah, this one is a lot of fun.

Designed to sound like an amp on the edge of a nervous breakdown, it does the job superbly. Tweak the amount of stress those first tubes are virtually getting by pushing the pre-amp stage with a big fat boost, then crank the power tubes into saturation with the third stage fuzz level. You can get everything from 'hmm, needs a re-tube' to 'quick - someone pull the plug!'.

I mean, it's a fuzz yeah? But the above is pretty accurate.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

Doesn't include the buffer found in the original, but you can always add one - check the 'Other' section.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Still trying to figure it out
"The kit's solid and the finished pedal does what it's supposed to, so no complaints there. I just don't find it fantastically inspiring and find I prefer my Fairfield Circuitry "An Unpleasant Surprise" fuzz for most applications where this would be a candidate. To be honest, I can't figure out why the maker of the original pedal asks for the ridiculous prices he's asking. It is definitely an interesting pedal, and I mean no slight of the circuit, but the Heavens have definitely not opened up on my first note / chord through it. Maybe I just don't know how to properly use it yet, or maybe I've not put the right gear through it, who knows. Oh well, the experiment was fun, at least." Razvan Cojocaru - 18 April 2021

Fuzz 'like a possum'!
"I've been obsessed with the fuzz sound on Lou Reed's epic 'like a possum' tune, and the device that does it is almost the same price as a new guitar! Anyway, I was choofed when FuzzDog dropped this one! An intermediate build, probably due to the amount of parts, it soubnds really good, sort of like a bigmuff on the verge of a nervous breakdown, good for Velvet Underground fans! The sustain and drive controls seem to interact and give you thick fuzz better for chords, or a spittier, neurotic tone that is better with single notes when you roll them back. There is also an internal bias control to starve powers, maybe the next version can put the bias as an external pot? I might order another of these with a bigger box and buffer and external bias, if possible, because the current 1509B would much a buffer a tight fit." Ozzie Battla - 27 October 2020
