Heavy Screamer

Yet Another Tube Screamer, sure...

This one does something a little different, and is perfect for all you high-gain junkies.

The differences between this and a standard 808 are apparent when running it on its own into a clean amp. Lots more output, more saturation and accentuated upper mids. Where it really does the business is pushing a gainy amp. Here the extra boost and mids start to sing, giving you that tight metal chug.

Supplied with board-mounted pots with round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs).

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is only available with full kits, and won't take a battery . Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Fiddly but sounds superb 5 product stars
"Despite being described as easy I did find this kit a little trickier to put together than some of the "hard" kits, perhaps due to how tightly packed everything is. No issues with first fire up and the instructions are up to the usual superb FuzzDog quality. The parts list had a couple of small deviations in resistor values - nothing huge, although it would be helpful to know what the value of the CLR is in a kit rather than figuring it out by a process of elimination especially when other resistors are also slightly different from the BoM, but none of this is a particular problem, just a nag. The finished pedal sounds ferocious - it actually sounds fantastic on its own, with a huge range on the gain control from light grit to some fairly mean crunch, but that isn't why any of us are here. Boosts an amp brilliantly, sounds absolutely massive. Put together as a gift for a bandmate who is delighted with it.

ThAnks for review. There shouldn’t be any difference in values supplied compared to BOM. CLR is detailed in the general build guide.
