FoxxTave - Foxx Tone Machine Fuzz with Ultimate Options

Classic early 70s fuzz tones. Massive, saturated fuzz but with a rounded, fat tone missing in a lot of extreme fuzz boxes. As well as your standard controls there's a switch to kick in an octave-up which gets things really nasty. This thing doesn't cut through the mix, it viscerates all its sonic path.

As well as the classic circuit, you can go for a more recent boutique take on it. A few component changes and an additional switch for Fat/Brite modes give you a slightly different flavour, but not to far from the original.

There's a separate kit available if you want to make a bigger 1590BB version with the octave control as a footswitch.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Superb device!
"This is a really superb machine - it's a very flexible fuzz with a wide timbral palette, just the way I like them. The octave works beautifully, even with a single coil; playing chords with the octave on produces some really interesting sounds, from eerie glitches to rattling metal sheets, controlled by the EQ and sustain. Or it performs as a 'normal' fuzz when the controls are suitably restrained. I built it in a 1590B, omitting the stomp switch so as to fit a battery in - to do that C16 needed to be fitted lying down so there was a bit of resoldering there after assembly. It's wise to follow FD's instruction and fit the board to the switches and pots when they are in position in the box, don't be a nit like me and solder the switches flat to the PCB or they'll only protrude enough to get one turn on the nut. Luckily Fuzzdog boards are very well made and will take a bit of knocking around! Silicon diodes and Russian D9Es work perfectly in case you're stuck for the BOM germaniums; I fitted all three on a switch, just because. Big fat fuzz!
"Great sounding pedal! I haven't had that much experience with fuzz and bought this kit from watching youtube reviews and hoping for the best. I'm happy to say this is everything I hoped it would be! The octave option isn't for everyone and I find myself turning it off more than on. The fuzz tone however is excellent! And it's a beast! Really useable sounds from both bright and fat modes. The bright is a lot more scooped and the fat mode a lot more middy. The tone control is powerful enough to cope with both and I found a great Fu Manchu type tone in fat mode with the tone down low. "I have to say that I was dubious when I first read about this pedal, and the absence of a review, but I wanted something to cut my teeth with and went for this. I got the 'ultimate' setup with the octive switching and I have to say that it sounds amazing!. It is a tight squeeze but the prefab box is spot on and the components were as they should be. There has been some thought in regards to what parts make up the pedal and though it doesn't have the exotic pots some seem to go for in custom guitar upgrades, all the actual important switching and jack inputs are of a good breed - think switchcraft and true bi-pass. Oh, and did i mention the sound; thick, dirty but with a good pinch of clarity and control. The octive switch is a funny beast but you can get the pedal to oscillate, which gives a nod to the germanium fuzzers out there, and with it off you have a nice spectrum of fuzz/dirt; again the fat switch is a great little tweak.
