It's a fuzz. Kinda. Is it?

Yes, but your fuzzy signal gets mangled through a strange filter section that does all kinds of wild and whacky things to it. What it does depends on the speed and intensity knobs, which fiddle around with the PLL circuit causing filtered chaos. The effect is very much determined by the strength of the signal you send it too, so gentle playing will yield very different results to heavy handed stuff. Basically it's a bucket load of fun, and an absolute must if you like the shoegaze end of tones. Just a quick dig around demo vids should convince you either way.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Insane glitchy distortion
"First time I fired it up I thought my wiring was bad - turns out it just sounds like an electrical fire. Awesome! Can do sub-octave in addition to the fuzz and glissando sounds you hear in most demos. Likes individual notes more than chords.

A truly freaky little noise machine
"First things first: oh boy, this thing lives up to its name. You can get some truly wild sounds out of this little box, from sputtery, crunchy gated synth bleeps and bloops on the more reasonable end to "possessed theremin" and "extra-terrestrial signal broadcast" on the extreme. 4/5 stars just because it's not exactly a solid, all-round workhorse and might be a little "marmite" for some, but it's exactly what you need if you're looking to add a bit of freak to your sound. The build is pretty simple - I started this kit with no practical electronics experience and had to rebuild it a couple of times due to some real rookie mistakes, but by the end I was able to put it together in an hour or two at most. Someone with more practice would probably be able to do it in no time at all, since this one is pretty minimal compared to some of the other kits I've been eyeing up. Extra credit to the build guides, which are thorough and comprehensive enough that even a total newbie like me could get through it. Big shout-out to Boss Fuzzdog for the next-day delivery when I contacted them about an incorrect component provided in the kit - top-tier kits, top-tier service." Chris - 11 May 2025
