Dirt Dealer Fuzz

The Dirt Transmitter™ is dead. Long live the Dirt Transmitter™

Imagine a Fuzz Face that's been locked underground for a decade. It's angy. It's seriously PO'd. It's back on the surface and it's shouting loud. Here you go.

Biting, ripsaw fuzz from a pair of groovy 2N1711 cans, with buckets of versatility thanks to the Bias and Tone pots. Mellow to bright, smooth as silk or rough as velcro. It's all right there.

Tiny current draw and low noise floor make this a fuzz worthy of a space on any board.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures. Please choose appropriate knobs.

"Yeah this is excellent - its great on both guitar and bass- I may need to make another so I have one for each board. Sounds sweet from low fuzz all the way up.

What a massive pedal! 5 product stars
"Ordered it on the 28th of March and received it on the 30th, very impressed by the quick turnaround. I plugged the pedal instantly to my bass and then to my guitar, the only problem is the battery on my bass is dead-ish so doesn't sound nice but the guitar made me deaf. I have various fuzz pedals including a scrambler (clone) and the real FFM2, (to the words of Jamie, owner of EQD, the dirt dealer/Data Transmitter is modified Fuzz Face. I dig it. now time to make some wall of sound noises and tearing down walls. Good job Fuzz Dog and thank you for this amazing pedal. If you have never tried the real deal but you need a super cool fuzz, put some faith in Fuzz Dog and have them send you this kit. it's totally worth the money. I was being lazy and had them build it for me. but 100% will come back to buy more kits to enlarge my already big collection of pedals." Dario F. - 30 March 2023
Ripping Good Fun! 5 product stars
"The description for this is spot on, the bias adds a great extra element and it stacks really well with other pedals I have. If, like me, you have lots of muff-type fuzzes, and would like something a bit different, then I would highly recommend this pedal." Jonny - 29 September 2021

Great piece but....... 3 product stars
"When i built the Dirt Dealer a while ago(using other transistors since i couldn't find PNP 2N1711-read further!) i didn't had the knowledge then i have now (not that much but enough for now, i'm learning). Turned out the symbol of the transistors was drawn wrong indicating it to be PNP. There was also no indication in the text. Together with the wrong information Ebay sellers etc. provided with 2N1711 transistors, this led me astray quite severely. Ofcourse The Dirt Dealer didn't sound as it should so i gave up on it as i was sure the build itself was correct (at the time). It was not until looking for components for another build that i ran into the 2N1711 transistors again and with the knowledge i've gained along the way made me question the information as provided in the Dirt Dealer schematic. Since i had contact about this the schematic still remains wrong and this makes me worry a bit about other projects. It should be immediately corrected (or removed) knowing it's wrong as beginners might run into a simlair situation. I guess thess kind of things are quite obvious when you're an experienced builder but not all builders are created equal. STill love the Fuzzdog projects though and i know it's extremely bussy overthere but this should be a point of immediate attention." de Ronde - 03 April 2021
Superb kit, my favourite fuzz 5 product stars
"I could have written positively about any of the kits of bought from here but this has to be my favourite. Clear instructions (not something to be sniffed at) and easy to use PCB. It sounds excellent and is very versatile for both guitar and bass. More generally, FD have been very quick to respond to my bone questions about issues I have had (down to my inexperience). This in particular can fulfil a range of duties with careful interplay between the tone, drive and bias controls. You won't be disappointed." Al - 18 March 2021

"Hello from France! I chose this Fuzz with the pre-built option. The delivery is very fast. This Fuzz is the same as the original version, it sounds wonderful! I'm delighted, thank you Fuzzdog" Dani - 08 February 2020
