19 Bells Fuzz

One PCB, two fuzzy possibilities.

First up is a very popular boutique box built to nail the fuzz tones used on Pink Floyd's The Wall, and nail it it does. The Pink Pig circuit has articulate highs, fuzzy lows, and less of a mid scoop than is typical for this type of fuzz.

Add to that a toggle switch to alter the mids from 'flat' to 'hump' and you have a very versatile fuzz box.

Next up we have The Bell, a boutique box based on the Pink Pig with a few tweaks (though the makers claim it isn't based on any particular model). Gone is the mids switch, replaced by a 'colour' pot for more control of that scoop.

The two circuits are sonically very similar, with only a few small variations in component values other than those mids controls.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Best muff I've heard 5 product stars
"I currently have 5 muffs and this is the one in my rig. Absolutely nails comfortably numb (you can hear my demo into a Trinity Triwatt over at Trinity Amps Facebook page (or here https://youtu.be/tv78Q5d0MJk). Slightly more mids than an original muff but still very much in muff territory, and in my opinion there's less noise than a vintage (esp the Russians). Sounds great with a strat and with humbuckers, and practically guaranteed to get other guitarists asking what you're using. My best buy in ages!" Tim O - 31 May 2016
Not Just a One Trick Pig 5 product stars
"Brilliant! To confirm what Fuzz Dogs says this is a VERY versatile unit. The tone control is really responsive. The flat/hump switch gives you two voicings in one pedal. Rolling off the guitar volume and using a lighter touch can reign the effect in. Don't just keep it on one setting. Yes you can sound like D.G. (provided you can play like him) but this unit does so much more. It's great for controlled feedback and harmonics and the length of sustain is excellent and it has a smooth decay with no fizz or raspy break-up. You won't need a wall of cranked up valve amps with one of these at your feet. Tips for construction; use the Direct Connect - much tidier and easier. Best order to install components: resistors, caps, diodes, trannies, pots. If you install the trannies before the diodes it'll be very tight soldering the diodes and you'll run the risk of frying the trannies as you try to get to the diodes with the iron. The only niggle is there's not enough room for a battery." Steve - 24 April 2016
