Fun fun echo 5 product stars
"If you want to 'Run Like Hell,' this is a fun pedal. Take your time soldering the big IC, don't want to get it too hot. The dirt knob is pretty growly, and can indeed send the repeats into a screaming oscillation, but I would not hesitate to add the feature again, if I built the pedal a second time." A beautiful device 5 product stars
"After years of collecting different digital delays - as you do - I had a hankering for a real old-skool analogue echo, something with a bit of character, some texture and colour. A quick look on Ebay revealed that the Pearl pedal that I basically threw away (or just left at someone's house) back in the day when digital was becoming available is now unaffordable. So I came tearfully to Fuzzdog who patted my hand comfortingly and sent me away clutching an Echo Blue PCB. And by god, I'm glad he did, because it's a beautiful device. The build was perfectly straightforward and it worked as soon as I powered it up. I included the 'Dirt' pot and I'd advise anyone else to do the same; if you don't find a use for it in your sound you can leave it turned down, but if you like to play with sculpted noise sometimes then it's ideal. The 'Dirt' control is highly interactive with the delay time and repeats and it doesn't have to just make squally noise (though it does that very well) - you can 'trap' an oscillating tone in the pedal and mess with it by minute adjustments of the other controls (anyone remember Cluster's first two albums?), and plenty more besides. Although I started using this with guitar I panelled it up as a Eurorack module (only had to add an L7809 voltage regulator to turn 12v into 9v) - now it's one of my prime 'secret weapons', not only an effect but virtually an instrument in itself. Thanks FD!!" spectralhelix - 18 May 2019
Sounds Wonderful 5 product stars
"This was my first non dirt pedal build and I was worried that I might run into some problems but I was able to complete it in one day without a hitch. It sounds far better than I expected too. I can dial in a slap back sound or set it longer. Truth be told, I only build a delay to emulate East Bay Ray's guitar sound on the song Police Truck and was able to dial that in with very easily. Very happy with this build." Clifford - 04 May 2016
Once you go delay, you never go back 5 product stars
"I've been working on vero for a while now with a few dirt pedals (mostly) up my sleeve and this was my first delay/PCB build ever. The board mounted pots make it very stable. Although, I had solder lug pots but used some thick copper wire to solder them directly into the board. The effect itself is so awesome! It's quite dirty and lo-fi but what can you expect from pt2399. Let's say it's got character. Definitely recommend the dirt mod. Even though the delay at longer time settings gets dirty already but maxing out the dirt control will turn this pedal into freakish oscillation through the roof fuzz. It gets very loud! Just because of this, when I build it again I'll use an external 30k pot for volume instead of the trimpot as the "Level" pot only controls the mix between dry and wet With delay time all the way down it creates an interesting submarine-like effect. Very resonant and sonic." Vid - 02 April 2016
Dirty Delay 5 product stars
"Don't get this if you're after nice clean infinite delay. Get this if you want your sound to degrade fairly quickly and a glorious chaotic mess to develop. This is , of course, A Good Thing." tom - 03 July 2014
