Shin-Ei FY2 Companion Fuzz with post-boost

Really skanky vintage fuzz tones. Fizzy, splattery, over-the-top and gloriously nasty.

The original circuit has a less than earthshattering output level, so this version has an added LPB post-boost to make everything go up to eleven.

Includes pads so you can easily add the mids-scoop pot mod.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures. Please choose appropriate knobs.

True Companion
"As always with Fuzzdog kits, it arrived really quickly and with everything present and correct, including alternate value resistors for different types of boost. I opted for the 'green' set of components and the mid-scoop pot - well worth it for the extra versatility and it has plenty of volume to go round. Fantastic value given that even reproductions are a few hundred dollars these days, and I bet even a seasoned pedalhead couldn't tell the different in a blind test. Very gated and rippy, it doesn't really have any subtle settings but why would you buy one if that's what you wanted?! Easy to follow build doc, high quality components and an authentic sound!" Great personality
"This is not a fuzz for the faint of heart, but it's remarkable for what it does. Don't get it if words like "organic" and "transparent" make you drool, but if you like strong flavours and are open to surprises it may be worth your while to experiment with it. Supposedly Radiohead's bassist and the Black Keys use something like this.
