Just The Meat

No veg with this tiny little drive that'll get your tone into the realm of British mid 60s rock.

Highly pick-responsive, and much lighter than a JTM45 head. Run it at 9V or 18V for two very different break-up/headroom experiences.

Kit is available with a standard sized 1590B enclosure with battery, or a mini 1590A (36 x 90mm) enclosure with DC power only, though be aware that you'll be wiring in a very confined space.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls, in a 1590B. 1590A will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Works Well On Bass 5 product stars
"With an increase in cap values this works nicely to dirty up a clean bass. Feeding into a Candyman with both pedals at mild gain levels sounds very nice indeed - smooth distortion with enough grunt to cut through the mix." Chris - 05 April 2019

Late 60s rock, in a vox. 5 product stars
"I've built many pedals and clones, and this is one of the best. As simple a build as a Rangemaster, yet it emulates the sound of a cranked vintage valve amp better than most, and more complex 9v transistorised stomp boxes going. It's not multi versatile like the OCD, but it produces a more convincing cranked amp feel into a clean amp at domestic volume, with nice full bodied low mids that the OCD and Box of Rock fail to. Talking of versatility, the bias knob may as well be a two way toggle with a preset trimmer instead, as it goes from very mild grit with no change until the last 8% of the turn(but I'm nitpicking). Maxed sounds fuzzy and compressed(which is cool), but if you dial carefully, you can achieve that ultimate bloom of amp crunch and clarity. I knew nothing of the Elektra distortion until recently, but assuming this is a derivative of that build, then truly the Elektra is the most unsung genius gain circuit along with the Boss Tone. Fuzz Dog PCBs are a great alternative to faffing and taking the risk with vero builds. I've bought quite a few PCBs from here now, and will carry on doing so. Great stuff." Simon Wood - 10 March 2018

"Simple one-knobber that does what it says on the tin. It is quite subtle as you go from zero, with all of the action starting towards the end of the knob's range. The bias knob hisses a bit as you turn it. I assume this is because it works in the same way as the boner, in which the crackle is 'okay'. Well-priced and good quality kit with straightforward instructions and excellent support if required. Recommended." Rick - 03 March 2018
