7 of Dwarves Auto Wah

An updated and tweaked version of a 90's rackmount auto filter squeezed into a neat little 1590B package.

We won't lie - it's a fiddly beast to work with, requiring some fine tuning of the Bias and Sensitivity controls to get it to work nicely with individual guitars, but the results are worth it when you get the settings nailed. You could see this as either a pain or a blessing, as it means you can get all kinds of responses from it to suit your playing style. It's almost an instrument in itself. Just as good on bass as it is on guitar.

Once the above controls are tweaked, you have lots of scope for adjustment with Resonance and Decay settings. Several hours can easily be lost twiddling with different placing dynamics to explore the huge range of sounds you can get from this thing.

If you opt for vertical-mount pots they have round shafts, so you'll need knobs that fix with a set screw. Feel free to wire in 'normal' pots if you prefer a splined shaft.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is only available with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Great Pedal for a Great Price 5 product stars
"I really enjoyed making this, it was a fun experience after my previous attempts on Vero board failed. I wanted to make something fun to use so I decided this for use on Bass and Guitar and it really works well, I ordered just the PCB through Fuzz Dog as I had the parts already available in my workshop but I found myself missing a couple parts like the C1M pot, definitely worth buying the full kit from them in my opinion. Sounds great, only problems is I burnt my thumb and some of my soldering on a jack came undone." Levi - 06/02/2018
Funk of 40,000 years 5 product stars
"If you're like me and can't get your feet going in time with your hands, then expressive wah work is probably out of your reach - unless you get one of these suckers. Twiddle a few knobs and suddenly everything you play gets crazy funky. I could happily plug into this pedal and just wakka-wakka-wakka on muted strings all day long, and leave the fancy footwork to your drummer. PROTIP: Don't be like me. Solder everything properly first time around and save yourself weeks of headscratching trying to figure out what went wrong." Gareth - 18/02/2017
Filthy 5 product stars
"I had trouble with this one. I feel the white PCB coating is a little less resistant to heat than some of FuzzDogs other ones. But it was probably me being cocky and making mistakes. The pedal however, is a beast. Very versatile - from smooth auto-wah for great rhythm (mutes sound amazing with this this), to very dirty, filthy and funky leads. It can get away with moog synth lines (with some dirt and comp) - It doubles up with key's parts so well. With the right settings it is very envelope filter-y too! If you only ever get one envelope filter/auto-wah/synthy type thing - get this!" Rick - 21/12/2015
