Klon Buffer

Hot! Klon Buffer

Pretty much the king of all things avoid-signal-loss-ness, the buffer stage of a very famous boutique overdrive pedal is hard to beat.

Why do I need a buffer? Ask Pete Cornish. But I'll give you a clue. Lots of pedals and lots of cable = lots of gumph for your signal to get through between your guitar and amp. Inevitably you're going to lose something as it strains its way through the wire, and what goes first is your sweet top-end. You've just paid £2k for that strat - splash out another few quid and see what it should really sound like.

Put one of these first in line in your pedal chain, and if you really want to keep things sweet stick another at the end. Your highs will sparkle like never before.

The kit doesn't come with any switches as this is meant to be a plug-in-and-forget, always-on circuit. Feel free to add one if you want. DC power only too, but again you can add battery snap if that floats your boat. But honestly, once you've tried it you'll never want to switch it off. This is the most useful square inch ever.

Kit is available a mini 1590A (36 x 90mm) enclosure with DC power only in either vertical or horizontal format. Be aware that you'll be wiring in a very confined space.

Kit includes: PCB, all components, hook-up wire, jack sockets, DC socket, LED. Enclosure (pre-drilled) is optional. No knobs required.

Difficulty: Easy

PCB size: 25 x 22mm

Enclosure: 1590A

If you want the kit pre-built you must add the enclosure option below and select your knobs in the Components section. Check Specials for powder-coated enclosure availability.

Wait, buffering? 5 product stars
"I wonder why nobody told me about this before. Yes, I was aware that with so much cable and pedals my signal may suffer a little bit of treble loss but I couldn't imagine the difference would be so noticeable. There is really no reason no to build one of these. It's easy as it can be, the instructions are clear, fits in a very small enclosure and the difference is more than noticeable. I actually use two of these. One on the very first position of the signal chain that goes to the input and one of the very first position of the signal chain that goes to the loop return. Both are placed under the pedalboard as they fit almost anywhere. Wonderful transparent buffer." NiLace - 18/02/2017
Cool kit! 5 product stars
"My first kit! I made two other Kbuffs, one on vero and a second on Fuzzdog's PCB which was great. I tried this kit too, which also has the possibility to add a LED easily. The components are OK and I learnt a lot. I'll try some other kits here for sure!" wpetersohn - 17/10/2016
great buffer, great support 5 product stars
"the pedal does a good job and fuzzdog's support is always faster than light! I've done many fuzzdog kits, all great kits. I wished the led-bezel would be of better quality." giorgio - 22/10/2015
YOU need one of these 5 product stars
"Best buffer ever. Brings back to life any dull sounding pedalboard packed with effects and long cables. Brings back the treble, and the articulation, the crisp in your original sound. You don't have to care about good or bad bypass anymore, about cable length, about anything. The kit is very well done, building it is fun, easy and fast. Very few parts, very well chosen, simple and efficient layout, nothing can go wrong if you know how to use a soldering iron. Buy one, put it together, stick it on your pedalboard and forget about it, you'll thank me later ! It will feel as good as retubing your amp and have you say "I should have done it earlier"." "Super fast delivery super easy build took about 30 mins start to finish sounds fantastic this bad boy will never be turned off...yep its that good. Thanks Fuzz dog." Mark - 24/03/2015
Superb sound improvement 5 product stars
"Just fitted one if these into the input of a by pass strip I've been building and I fitted a small toggle switch before it in case I ever needed to turn it off. I needn't have bothered!!!! This will never be turned off! The difference in sound quality is huge. Everything is as described. I am running 7 different pedals on my board and each one now has a much cleaner, more professional sound. Great job once again from the king of DIY effects!!!!" Alan hodges - 26/04/2014
Essential piece of gear! 5 product stars
"Every word about in the description of this kit is true! I Put it in a looper and A/Bd it to hear the difference. You get alot more high-end form the pickups that would be lost. Especially in front of overdrives (box of rock) you get a grittier more detailed sound! little money, little box, huge effect!" Daniel - 17/11/2013
Great buffer! 5 product stars
"Super simple build, that really works well. Stick it at the front of your pedal chain an it will work wonders. It is also small enough to fit into many guitars - plenty of room to fit in a Strat, Les Paul or P Bass, Should also fit into a Tele or Jazz Bass if using mini pots. There is plenty of room for the tiny board, it's the battery that might not fit. It will also fit into most enclosures if you want to add a buffer to a non-buffered pedal." Mark - 23/05/2012
