The MXR™ Distortion+™ - a classic that needs no improvement. Wait... EVERYTHING can be made betterer, surely.

Cue Brian Wampler, an electron wizard behind many magnificent creations. In a Premier Guitar article back in 2008 he outlined his suggested mods of this sonic stalwart.

Treble roll-off tone control (very subtle, but useful), improved gain, and switches for compression, clipping and bass mods make this a tweaker's toolbox of tone.

Brian suggested germanium diodes in the clipping sections, but these are getting crazy rare. We've substituted them with BAT46 which have almost identical clipping qualities.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components (depending on selected options), pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is only available with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.
