Supreaux Bolt

All the vintage amp tone fun of a 60's Supro in a 1590B.

Based on a boutique pedal which is itself based on the excellent RunOffGroove Supreaux, but with a couple of tweaks. This version offers a built-in charge pump to run the circuit at 18V instead of 9V, giving much more headroom. A Hi/Lo toggle switch emulates the Hi/Lo inputs of the amp, so giving you more dirt or more clean headroom on tap.

Overall, this is a fantastic open-sounding drive with a huge range of gain and tone control. Big thumbs-up to RunOffGroove. No mention of them on the 'boutique' site... shame on those people.

Board-mounted pots and switch make this a quick, simple build. Latest version has pads for through-hole or SMT FETs, since through-hole are getting harder to come by.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Possibly my favourite drive 5 product stars
"I've lost count of how nay FD boards I've built over the years and, to my shame, this is my first review. I absolutely love this circuit. I've tried all the usual suspects (and plenty of unusual ones) but this is the one that I keep coming back to. It's pretty impossible to accurately describe sounds in text but if you want some buzz words that fit this circuit then mine would be vintage and warm. It doesn't sound like a Klon or a TS but that's a good thing in my opinion. Small tip - I found that the hi/lo switch didn't offer much variance in drive. If you find the same, try switching R6 to a 10k. It goes without saying that the board is well made and a the build doc make it a doddle to put together. Highly recommended! Cheers FD." Incredible Page tone goodness! 5 product stars
"If you're looking at this kit there's a good chance you're already a Zeppelin fan and if you're like me then you won't stop tone chasing until you have found the right tool. This is it. Its based on the Supro Amps Page used to rock back in the day, think 'Rock and Roll' tone with all the nuance right there. I would advise running this through an EP preamp to get the whole Page effect but the harmonics this circuit can deliver on its own are beautiful. This is also the first pedal I have put together myself, nothing too complicated on there and the only mistakes I made I will chalk up to inexperience. For the price its remarkable at what you get!! Service from FD is top notch, delivery is super quick. 10/10, 5 stars...now eyeing up more projects from this site. Love it." Chris - 25 January 2021
Super responsive drive 5 product stars
"This was my second Fuzzdog kit and it's superb! As other reviews have said it just has that sixties sound, great for late 60s/early seventies rock and blues. Super vibey and responsive to picking dynamics and volume changes. Will do everything from clean with a bit of hair to almost fuzz like tones. Loads of gain on tap so you could use it as a dirty boost too. Love it!" Barry Croucher - 12 October 2020
Late 60s rock heaven. 5 product stars
"This overdrive is the bomb. It is quite literally an amp in a box, as originally the ROG site analysed the schematic of a Supro, as immortalised by Jimmy Page on Zeppelin 1. JHS may be guilty of stealing the idea and running with it, but nether the less it's truly great. With the 18v build you hear a greater difference between the two toggle switch modes, similar to the high and low peak switch on an OCD. One position has a more open sound with firmer attack response, whilst the other applies a compressed and chewy sag, which simulates a fully cranked vintage valve amp. I've just played along to Cream and Zeppelin with this pedal into my amp at TV volume with very satisfying results. When the gain is maxed, it's more like a fuzz/distortion, but used judiciously it really hits the spot. This has the same versatility as the OCD, going from clear open drive, to full on cranked tilt, but with more convincing amp overdrive full bodied low mids. For now, this is me fave. Thank goodness for Fuzz Dog PCBs for making cloning easier than vero builds. They really are the biz." Simon Wood - 10 March 2018
Supreaux - Superb Kit 5 product stars
"Another excellent kit - relatively easy, great instructions, worked first time. Tone into a recently refurbished WEM Clubman is magical." Nick Morgalla - 18 April 2017

"Great kit. Incredible pedal. Daughter card made build much easier and got me using the pedal sooner." Rich - 31 May 2015
