Libido Boost

Another pedal based on a Tube Screamer? Indeed. One of very, very many. This one bucks the trend a little and winds things back to be more of a clean boost with some grit at the top of the gain control, and it does it very well.

Three clipping settings give you some subtle differences in compression, making this a very versatile boost that won't over-colour your tone.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Bootiful Boost Pedal
"Not able to get the real thing, I opted for the Libido. It came very quickly and well boxed. Inside was also a Fuzzdog sticker, and a rudimentary control layout on a piece of paper that failed to mention the settings on the mini toggle switch -soft to the left, off, hard to the right - or is it? Anyhow, the enclosure is really good, the pots are nice and smooth and actually do something. So, I fired her up. Others have spoken about what this pedal does for a Strat and I can only agree. At all pickup settings on the guitar, you just get more of it. It sort of clarifies everything and pulls it forward. On a P90 equipped Gibson style guitar, the neck P90 just shimmers more, the pedal can bring out more of the treble, as some neck P90's can be a bit bass heavy and woolly. Not with the Libido. As for the bridge P.90, you get a real bite and at full gain you get within a smidgen of the classic AC/DC rhythm guitar sound. Moving to the compression effect, for me its either 'off' or set to 'hard' at the moment which surprised me as the hard actually sounds 'soft' - hence my slight confusion. The pedal is bright but warm. With a Telecaster, you get more of a Telecaster, the Tele bridge pickup sounds a bit more like a bright P90, close to edge of break up and neck pick up does not sound muffled; with humbuckers, again, there is a brightness as though it is importing single coil-like dynamics into the humbucker sound. "Really tremendous at adding a bit of top-end bite and clarity, while boosting the volume. Works really well as a tone-sweetener. Subtle yet essential!
"This is a lovely sounding thing! You can use it as a very transparent clean boost with the option of increasing the gain to "almost" drive like territory. There's plenty of volume if you want to use it as a boost. Or you can use it as a compressor - two modes - soft and hard - both quite subtle but very nice. I bought this to use as an "always on" pedal that would improve clean tone whilst giving a bit of character. It does this very well. The presence control works nicely too, brightens everything up a treat without losing too much low end. Another great sounding kit - well done Fuzzdog!" Dez - 26 July 2017
