Hey Sucker! Distortion

FET preamp into power amp distortion fun, heading into early JCM realms.

There's a lot more gain in this little fella than the small parts count may imply. The FET stage creates remarkably tube-like clipping, giving excellent responsive dynamics. The Power amp takes this deliciously compressed tone and pushes about as hard as it can to create an output your amp will beg for.

Pair it up with a 186,282Mps Drive or a Little Axe for some awesome fun.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Fantastic pedal 5 product stars
"I got one of these so I could learn how to bias a FET but it s become a favourite on my pedal board. It goes from a mediumish overdrive to lovely distortion. Notes always sound really defined even with gain maxed. Also, very little noise with gain maxed (but I also used a hum stopper). It won t get into modern metal territory but lovely chunky distortion nonetheless. Great for rock and punk and old school metal tones. It s got a good amount of bass, but not mushy. The tone control helps with clarity. Iv found it pairs great with the dart boost in front of it. I ve also found turning the gain down low and using this as a dirty boost makes my Maximus Distortium very chunky without losing chord definition." Hugh - 10 April 2024
