Green Ringer - Octave UP!

Our version of the Dan Armstrong Green Ringer, an octave-up circuit which can be used to great effect when combined with fuzz.

We've included spots for a trimmer or pot for the variable 'nulling' mod. What's that? Read up here.

Supplied with silicon 1N4148 diodes as standard, but you can add optional matched germanium diodes (Russian D9K) if you want to.

In stock form this pedal has no external controls other than the bypass switch. If you aren't going for the Null pot you'll need something to mount the PCB within the enclosure. We supply self adhesive mounts.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

"I originally bought the smaller Stinger version and liked it so much I got this for my main board (One perfectly sized space left. Fate?). Octave fuzzes are great, but this gives you the option of adding that classic octave up sound to any fuzz or overdrive pedals you already have. Tons of fun for such a simple kit, I went for germanium diodes and the external null pot. Third or fourth kit from Fuzz Dog now - very impressed with everything from the lightning fast delivery to the sounds of the finished products.

Octave up for days 5 product stars
"This is a great kit and very easy to get that brilliant octave up effect. I went for a pair of silicon 1n4148s that I matched myself. The only issue I had was mounting it in an enclosure which I guess I can only really blame myself for at the end of the day." Xavier - 07 May 2020
What an entertaining contraption! 5 product stars
"I like this, a lot. I bought the board only, and used a trimmer for the nulling, whatever that means. I did try to understand, but I just used my ears instead of my acid damaged brain cell anyway. I may well add a pot for this, and a switch too, but I kind of like the fact it's just a box and a button! I took a long time with a tiny screwdriver to get exactly the sound I was after. A nice fuzz with a fairly clear octave up signal, which doesn't glitch out with high notes, and can do a great impersonation of an electric Sitar with lower notes. Muck around with D minor scales and have some trippy hippy sounding fun! As usual, Lee's boards are little works of art, I am addicted to these now. Just bought a buffer and THE WRECKTIFIER. Yeah, kinda deserves caps from what I've learned so far. I'd get this if I were you, it's not expensive, it's easy to build, fun to tweak (though it takes a while to acheive the balance I required), and it's just brilliant. I've not got a pedal board. Just an ergonomic arrangement of pedals, and this little dear is a permanent fixture because she's so different, and fun. Do yourself a favour and get one, I don't think you'll regret it. If you do, I'll give Lee my details and you can explain to me personally why you're so boring. Get one. It's cool AF." Mick Jones. - 25 March 2017
