Crimson Cockerel Treble Boost

The Dallas Range Master. Bedrock of so many classic tones. Beautiful germanium treble boost. Here's a famous 'boutique' version of it that is standard negative-ground while retaining all that germanium goodness.

There's also a Range control, so you can fatten up the frequencies being pushed. Sometimes you just need a little more beef.

We're making the transistor optional, as you may have your own special little vintage piece of history you want to solder in there. If you want one from us we currently have a stock of germaniums that do the trick real nice.

Board-mounted pots for minimal wiring and easy enclosure mounting.

Multimeter recommended for optimal biasing, but it can be done by ear. Don't sweat it.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knobs are not included.

Very nice and versatile treble booster 5 product stars
"Very nice Germanium treble booster. The range-knob sweep is super usable at both extremes and, at least my build, is very quiet. I managed to source a CV7004 transistor locally where I live, so I went for the original specs. I like this one very much, and it has a different flavour than the Naga Viper clone that I also built, perhaps slightly less raspy distorsion. The build itself is rather minimalistic, and populating the PCB takes 10 minutes. Excellent quality kit from Fuzzdog, as usual!" JCR - 28 October 2023
