Bungle

Boutique box based on the Shin Ei FY2, so you get the basic idea, right?

Abrasive zipper-fuzz tones, perfect for that in-your-face garage sound of the sixties. Don't expect smooth and creamy - this is all about attitude.

Keep it thin and piercing, or fatten things up with the Body control. The toggle switch gives you two different biasing options, changing the nature of the nasty.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knob is not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

My first pedal build 5 product stars
"I chose the Bungle as my first attempt at a pedal build, it looked pretty simple, not a lot of components. I managed the soldering fine (I have a little prior experience) and got all the components on the board with no difficulty. One of the pots had a different value than listed on the instructions, a quick email to Fuzzdog and they sent out the correct part right away. If I could do it again, I would have attached the 4 wires that go to the daughterboard before doing the pots that cover the other side, this made it a bit fiddly, but not impossible. When testing the board, I initially had no power, no sound, nothing happening at all, and as a beginner, was a bit stumped. I headed to the Fuzzdog support group on Facebook and a few knowledgable folks figured out my mistake very quickly. Made a few mistakes when connecting the off-board parts, this was quickly fixed and everything began working as expected. Everything was then fixed into the enclosure and tightened up with the Pepers Rocket Sockets, available in the Tools section of the store (very handy). As for the effect itself, it's a sharp ripping vintage fuzz, late 60s sound i.e. The Doors "Break on Through", Iron Butterfly "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" style. Thin and nasal, gets fuller as you turn up the Body control. I will surely be doing some more Fuzzdog kits, once I decide what to order next. Cheers" Elliot - 19 June 2025
