Verb Engine

Not for the easily offended, or those looking for nice, clean reverb. You have been warned!

This piece of work is less a reverb than an unpredictable, untameable texture machine.

Based around the ever-popular Belton 'brick', this circuit twists and tweaks the boundaries of this unit. Controls for reverb level and volume are pretty straight forward. Add the gain control to the mix and things get crazy. The extra signal being mixed with the verb causes all kinds of overloaded, distorted havoc which is both fun and satisfying. Two distinct tone modes are available, giving you dark, cavernous rumbles or bright, spangly twang. Something for everyone, as long as you're a fan of the unusual.

NOTE: This kit does NOT include the Belton Brick. If you need one please order it on this page. The original uses the LONG variant, and for the most fun we'd say stick with that.

We highly recommend you stick with the board-mounted pots with this rather than the wired ones. You could mount the PCB using only the toggle switch, but the extra weight of the reverb brick will put a lot of strain on those few connections. Honest. If you go for the vertical board-mount pots note that they have round shafts. You'll need knobs with set-screw fitting.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components (not BTDR-2), pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is only available with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Mad swells 5 product stars
"I absolutely love this pedal. It can really mess with any other pedals you're using before it but in a fun way. I tend to dial it in on the brighter setting with a low gain and with the reverb as high as it can be before it becomes too slappy. With the gain upped it will drag whatever you've got in you chain before it into the abyss, which has so much potential. I added the momentary mod, which is a lot of fun. I've been using it on one track in almost a piano sustain pedal type way with a delay afterwards, to add luscious swells. That reminds me, i need to replace my prebuilt delays with some diys. Thanks again." Steve - 15/12/2018
Thanks fuzzdog 5 product stars
"This is the sound of decommisioned satellites floating in space, buffeted by solar winds, sending out distress signals to defunct receivers. Brilliant. I have attempted veroboard versions of this pedal previously, which worked but hissed like anything. Fuzzdog's version has no hiss and the suggested mod is brilliant." Ian - 18/11/2018
