Maestro MFZ-1 Fuzz

Ooooh that's meaty. This op-amp based 70s beast throws out much more mighty fuzz than the small parts count would have you believe.

Supposedly favoured by Dan Auerbach on early Black Keys' recordings, but we're making no claims. It does sound... remarkably... like... maybe....

This little guy is now a firm favourite around FDQH.

Board-mounted pots for minimal wiring and easy enclosure mounting.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and can take a battery if desired with footswitch positioned 22mm higher, closer to the controls. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures. Please choose appropriate knobs.

A different flavour of fuzz from a nice simple build
"What better way to spend a rainy afternoon than sitting in the workshop, watching a show and building a simple pedal! The only 20KA pot i had was a right angled PCB mount one so i had to cut the connectors to replicate a short pcb mount pot. That was fun! I really recommend this one. For the small parts count it is a great sound. Really thick and meaty and sustains forever. Very different to my other fuzz pedals. Takes a boost in front nicely. Another great board from Fuzzdog!

Seriously meaty!
"Very cool little fuzz box. Very responsive to pick dynamics and tone controls, so you can get a cool range of sounds despite the simple controls. Sounds great on Humbuckers & Single Coils, and sounds AMAZING on P90s. Sounds like fried poop with mini-humbuckers, which is weird. It's also great for slide guitar, giving you just enough crazy to sound cool whilst giving you plenty of clean upper range to cut through the mix. Build is very simple, but LOOK OUT FOR THE CAP ON THE OTHER SIDE. Took me by surprise, that did!" Ben Miles - 24 May 2018
