The Prince

Supplied with BA282 diodes, now that the MA856 are long gone baby. They have a forward voltage of 0.83, so spot on.

Some overdrive royalty for you. Essentially one half of an Emperor with some tweaks to keep things interesting.

Based around a Blues Breaker but with fairy dust sprinkled generously inside. The Prince has an external toggle switch to do your clipping switching without taking the back off, giving you Clean, Overdrive and Distortion modes.

Two internal DIP switches add a little more magic. Lo-Mid lift gives more emphasis to your fat strings, and Turbo mode adds a bit more oomph to your higher gain settings. Internal trimmer to adjust your treble.

We're making this available with two different enclosure layouts. We find the original centralised Tone control near the mode switch a bit cluttered, so you have the option to go for a square control layout instead. Don't worry, everything is still board mounted in either configuration.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosures and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

Duke of Tone?
"This is a long overdue review but equally that has allowed plenty of time to get nicely acquainted with this circuit. Enter 2022 and MXR and Analog.Man team up to take on the 5 year wait for unobtainium, which has interestingly led to every YouTuber and his (fuzz)dog creating content for the Duke of Tone. I've now been able to A/B this circuit with absolute ease and I am floored by the results. It's the real deal. If you are after creamy dynamic and responsive overdrive then look no further. "Takes your classic bluesbreaker then runs rings around it on a golden chariot with all the arrogance of the young and unfathomably rich. Although in this case the sense of entitlement is somewhat deserved because it does deliver and all of the extra knobs, whistles and tweakability add very nicely to the experience. The build is straightforward and it was relatively easy transferring the drilling template to a larger enclosure for double up times. (p.s.
