MegaHIWatt - Vintage HIWATT Amp Tone

One PCB, two different circuits based on 70s Hiwatt™ amp tones. Shape your sound into something close to two classics:

  • NORTH - based on Pete Townsend's sound on The Who - Live at Leeds.
  • SOUTH - Page's sound from Led Zeppelin at the Royal Albert Hall, 1970

Either can be made on the same PCB (though not both at once - sorry!)

NORTH is simpler in both construction and tone shaping, having Vol, Gain, Bass and Treble. The tone controls are highly interactive.

SOUTH adds a Mids control, which adds more interaction into the tone stack mix. Slightly fiddlier to work with, but a lot more versatile.

Both versions are very responsive to playing dynamics.

Designed for vertical mount pots (which have round shafts), or you can wire up normal pots if you prefer.

Kit includes: PCB, all components, hook-up wire, 3PDT footswitch for true bypass, jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, LED. Enclosure (pre-drilled) is optional and will not take a battery. Does not include knobs.

Cuts like an angry knife 5 product stars
"Very nice pedal to build, sort of complicated and fiddly but very satisfying. The sound is excellent. I normally use extreme fuzzes and a TS9 clone for more sane stuff (all from Poodle) but this is a serious contender for the saner end of my tone. Clear and cutting, with a lot of tonal range to play with due to the 3-band EQ, it's a great pedal for getting your tone noticed. Great with dynamics too. I built the south version and strongly recommend not being put off by the ever-so-slightly fiddly build." Steve - 05/02/2014
