AstroTone Fuzz - Sam Ash Fuzzz Box

Classic fuzz tones, and with original boxes going for over $3k it'd be silly not to give it a whirl.

Kit includes parts for the original circuit as well as some extra bits to make a thicker, 'improved' version as sold by a boutique maker. With a twist of the tone knob you can get hold of that original, thin tone, but the improved circuit adds a bunch more sonic options.

This latest version is tricked out with vertical-mount pots (note: round shafts - take that into account when choosing knobs) for a super-clean build. You can wire up normal pots with splined shafts if you prefer.

Kit includes: PCB, all components, hook-up wire, 3PDT footswitch for true bypass, jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, LED. Enclosure (pre-drilled) is optional and will take a battery. Does not include knobs.

Difficulty: Easy

PCB size: 50 x 18mm

Knobs required: 3

Enclosure: 1590B

Direct Connect compatible (4 way)

If you want the kit pre-built you must add the enclosure option below and select your knobs in the Components section. Check Specials for powder-coated enclosure availability. Builds only available with board-mounted pots.

Top dawg! 5 product stars
"This is a GREAT kit - very easy to assemble and fit into the enclosure with the board mounted pots. I built mine with the "boutique manufacturer" tone mods (parts were included with the kit) and it sounds GREAT! I a-b'd this against one of the boutique clones (because I'm all Hart, Man ;-) )and it stood up very well indeed. Mine came with metal 2n2222'S for extra mojo. SUPER easy build and all the parts were high quality. Really nice pedal with a sort of overdrive-meets-fuzz vibe. Cleans up brilliantly, sounds great with single coils and humbuckers alike, works very well with Fender-y amps too. Stacks well with other pedals although it doesn't like buffers upstream too much. Very believable tone, makes a lot of op-amp drives sound a bit lame in comparison! If you play any kind of 60's 70's rock/blues rock related stuff you'll like this!" Paul Flieshman - 05/04/2013
