Analog-like Echo

Like its not-so-distant cousin, the Echo Blue Delay, this is a PT2399-based digital delay with an analog direct signal path. As such you'll get pretty much more of the same - a natural-sounding delay with the warmth of a vintage tape echo. First repeat is clean, subsequent repeats start to darken and degrade. A great alternative to more clinical devices - this has soul. After spending some time with this fella we're of the opinion this is a little cleaner and brighter than the EBD, and the addition of a Tone control gives you a few more sonic possibilities. Short slap-back is especially fun.

No FuzzDog dirt control on this one though, so if you want to get really messy with your repeats then the EBD is mos def still the way to go.

Delay time is between 25 - 600ms, and with a current draw of under 30mA you can have top notch groovy delay on the board without eating up too much juice.

The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.

There's an extra pad on the board to enable easy incorporation of a modulation circuit, but you'll have to sort out your own favourite LFO for that.

If you want the PCB without parts there's a link for that at the bottom of the page.

Partial kit: PCB, all board-mounted components, pots.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

Enclosure (pre-drilled) is available as an option with full kits, and will not take a battery. Knobs are not included.

Builds are only available with full kits including enclosure and vertical-mount pots. Please choose appropriate knobs.

AnaEcho 5 product stars
"I have to agree with all the other reviews .... considering the component count & the cost of this unit , the sound quality of the dry & echo signal is remarkable .. no it is excellent !" HXH - 02 June 2023
Great little unit 5 product stars
"This was both easy and fun to build, and it sounds really, really sweet. With the tone pot up a ways and repeats set just so, the echoes fade with a high-pass filter effect - it sounds a lot like dub echo, so for this reason I built one into a panel as a Eurorack module for my synth. The 'Mod' mod comes in handy there , it's a CV modulation for the delay time, and I added one for repeats too. A 500k attenuator pot on the input, a wet only output and there it is, beautiful. I've bought, owned, sold and sometimes lost a lot of different delays over the years (about forty of those) and this is just one of the best I've come across. Thank you FD :)" Sir Henry - 11 August 2021
Great sounding delay 5 product stars
"Had a blast building this delay pedal. Simple design with a warm analog sound. This was my first proper build and it was really straight forward - would highly recommend this kit to anyone whatever their experience. Thanks again!" Billy - 20 April 2020
Excellent 5 product stars
"Started this kit with only basic soldering knowledge. Once I got to grips with all the component values etc it was great fun to build, and the result is a lovely, versatile, warm sounding echo that will definitely be staying on my board" Steve Blackham - 01 March 2019
